The Smiling Wall

When I see your face, stern, sprinkled with wrinkles,

Protecting yourself from what others may think of you,

In particular me.

However, as I study the pores, your character,

Deep feelings hidden behind eyes,

Holding the contents of heart,

The uncontainable.

The smile emerges,

Putting all into context,

As love emerges, breaking free.

As it cannot be held hostage. Ever.

Later

Later, we won’t have to worry about silly short-term desires;

Or temptations which foul up the days,

And relationships, which are deeper than wells,

But never totally fulfilled.

For these will be made in heaven.

When all is beauty,

All is love,

Uninterrupted.

Anatomy of a Decision

Sitting out there like a gleaming diamond,

Or a black patch to be worn for many years,

The decision looms large,

Its repercussions hidden from view,

Unlike the supporters on either side,

Divisive placards in hand,

Accompanied by alternating jeers and boos of those on the finish line.

Only one can really guide the right path,

One built with love.
