The City

With all the space available, man still crowds into Jerusalem,

Looking for companionship, work, a spouse, materials goods, or my worth.

The drawbridges are now wide,

But entryways still more narrow than ever.

We look and try and squeeze ourselves into small places filled with love.

The Tools were all Organized

The tools were all organized in my dad’s shed.

Always ready to level things out,

Hammer a nail,

Treat a plant when needed.

Never a need to worry about what might happen next,

There was a solution in the first shed,

And back up in the second,

All you needed was the key.

Carefully concealed to limit borrowers,

And undesirables who could not be trusted to return them.

Such as his children.
