Openings–Listening carefully

Do I resist because I am unsure,
                     or disobedience.
Today I will listen attentively for his call to me,
through others, nature or the happenings of the day.

Inspiration for this from my Spiritual Director, Adrienne.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL AND READINGS 3 JULY 2013

Do you recall when you stopped being a “doubting Thomas”? At what point did you truly believe that Jesus was your savior?  It is sometimes hard to move beyond that point of faith and believe, to knowing and having surety that God is there for you.

We know He is, but sometimes, the devil is an expert in running interference in our lives. He wants us to doubt, to move away, to not stay close to Him. As the Psalm says:

For steadfast is his kindness for us,
and the fidelity of the LORD endures forever.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL AND READINGS 1 JULY 2013

The call today is for those who are spiritually alive to follow Jesus and leave the burial of the physical dead to those that are “spiritually dead”.

Read literally, this seems a little harsh, but in a call to discipleship, there is only one God to follow, and all else needs to be placed second in that call.
