REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL AND READINGS 26 JUNE 2013

Can we recognize others who are “wolves in sheep’s clothing”, do we ever see it in ourselves? Let us pray for those who need to find the Lord in their lives and that we may always do His will.

Damascus gate

The narrow gate is the entrance to the city walls of ancient walled cities. It is narrow to keep out undesirables and also to be able to decide who should enter based on their suitability. In these times someone coming in who was ill might spread disease to the population, if they seems like a thief they would not be granted entry.

The wide open path is open to anyone in life, as as a secular society continues to redefine right and wrong, it is easier to “saunter” through life making choices that are socially acceptable, but separate us from God.

Let us pray today to be drawn towards that narrow gate that brings us closer to Him, and from the wisdom to recognize it.

We are indeed “all wonderfully made” and that should not surprise us, because God made us.

Now all this is left is for us to do His “wondrous works”. As John the Baptist prepared the way to connect us to Jesus and His mission, we need to continue the tradition and expose others to God’s work through Jesus and the Trinity. Pray today that I may be an instrument of His Holy work in my day. For this I pray.
