Reflection on Mark 1:21-28 Jesus removes the unclean spirits

The removal of an unclean spirit in the synagogue must have been a sight to behold. Jesus was not just teaching, but teaching with authority. They were both amazed and fearful of their fate as they knew they were in the presence of someone sent from God the Father of the Old Testament.
Quieting down the spirits that provide temptation in our lives, that move us away from God and towards another is something to reflect on for the day. We can see the healing touch of Jesus on the man in the picture. Let us be the man healed today.

John-the-Baptist

I have had the privilege to be the “best man” on a couple of occasions. The metaphor John uses in the scripture today is a really beautiful one.

We stand before God in awe of his work around us every day, and have been chosen to introduce Him to others. In John’s case it was preaching and baptism, bringing others into communion with Him for their entire lives. Let us try and renew that commitment today during each hour of the day, rejoicing in his love and blessings.

john the baptist baptizes Jesus

Can we imagine this event. Jesus shows us His humanity and divinity in a single humility filled act, having John baptize Him in the waters of the Jordan. Can we renew this vow each day, committing our lives to His work. With a New Year just upon us, we are renewed again and can face the world with Christ beside us.
