REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 26 JULY 2012

How often in life do we consider something seen but not understood? Hearing something, but not listening. We may miss the opportunity by “not being open”. I think the Gospel today is asking us to be “open”, to be ready when we see something, so we can perceive it’s meaning, our call to action. If we have already made our mind up about everything then all anyone is going to get out of us is a self-assured opinion. I try not to operate this way anymore, but certainly had a long period in my life where self-assurance and certitude blocked out my vision and openness to the Lord. Perhaps my eyesight is improving slightly.
