Openings … God’s Invitation

Imagine a day without any advertising,

A day where no one parks their car on your lawn and empties their trash in your children’s sandbox.

24 hours devoid of anger and turmoil,

A day of complete silence, only enhanced by the sounds of nature.

When all acts are blessed, work is postponed and we are replete with gratitude

This day is Sunday. God’s gift to you.

“God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work he had done in creation.”

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 12 JUNE 2013

Jesus wants us not just the teach His Word and practice His commandments, but to own them internally. This means just following reading or following the Word with our acts and mission, but also with our heart. Paul talks of this ownership of being of the Spirit when we can feel the freedom that is given by opening the door of soul so the Holy Spirit can come and rest in us, this is truly how we will be able to affect the work of God. By alignment of His will and ours, with the Holy Spirit working through us each day.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 29 MAY 2013

There is a lot to unpack in the scripture today, but perhaps His summary in the Gospel passage say it all.

“Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant;
whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.
For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Becoming a servant is not just an act of servitude, but rather a way of life. Once we understand that all we do should be for his glory and with humility it causes us to change. We don’t do charitable works for our own benefit or to make ourselves “better” than the next person, but rather because it is God’s will. Doing these works of kindness with humility will eventually lead us to a new Peace and understanding of His Love for us that becomes a part of us. Haven’t you ever met someone who is so holy that you can feel it in their presence. That is our goal in being a servant, getting close enough to God that we can feel Him near us, in us, in all of our acts and words.
