The Wordless Search

Staring into the blackness, thoughts extinguish themselves,

              as embers to charcoal, invisible in the dark.

A soul prays the prayer of no words, pleading for signs,

              throwing out daily turbulence.

Out of the darkness, shapes emerge,

                first unrecognizable, then taking form.

Distractions, sins, temptations, possessions, desires, things of no import, golden calves,

                 all gathered up and gently carried to His door.

Returned goods welcomed with forgiveness and love,

                   and more journeys are made, back into dazzling darkness,

Searching for it which must be returned, each trip a little lighter,

                   in order to drink from the Chalice of peace and love again;

And to rest In Him.

REFLECTION ON THE BETRAYAL OF JESUS WEDNESDAY HOLY WEEK 27 MARCH 2013

the last supper

The fact that the scriptures were fulfilled by Judas betraying Jesus, after having just eaten with Him at the table does not excuse Judas for his terrible crime. Imagine the disappointment of such a betrayal. Let us examine our own lives in this last days of Lent and see where we might be disappointing Jesus. Let us ask for this forgiveness and resolve to change that behavior.

REFLECTION ON THE MERCY OF GOD: GOSPEL READING 25 FEBRUARY 2013

Today’s Gospel cannot be shown better than the actions of the father in the Prodigal Son parable. Forgiveness is something that we can all give, even if if pains us to do so. By forgiving, we have removed the hardness of heart that often stops us meeting with God, and bringing others to God.
