REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL AND READINGS 28 JUNE 2013

Shall we offer ourselves in trust to the Lord today. Abram was asked to keep the covenant with the Lord and be rewarded.
Is God asking us to keep our trust in Him? How can we respond to this request? Only with complete obedience, surrender and love. He will do great things for us,  we need to truly trust and love Him with our complete entirety.

This day,  let me submit to Him all of my works and words in His honor.

HAGAR IN WILDERNESS

When we find ourselves in the wilderness, we should listen to God’s will. Sometimes it is in the wilderness of our lives that we have the chance to hear God’s voice, when we might not have heard Him when we were busy with our own.

When we hear His word and act on it, we will be rewarded. God is always looking for us to move closer to Him, to change our heart just a little more each day. Let me make that movement today towards Him.

Damascus gate

The narrow gate is the entrance to the city walls of ancient walled cities. It is narrow to keep out undesirables and also to be able to decide who should enter based on their suitability. In these times someone coming in who was ill might spread disease to the population, if they seems like a thief they would not be granted entry.

The wide open path is open to anyone in life, as as a secular society continues to redefine right and wrong, it is easier to “saunter” through life making choices that are socially acceptable, but separate us from God.

Let us pray today to be drawn towards that narrow gate that brings us closer to Him, and from the wisdom to recognize it.
