REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 1 DECEMBER 2012

Gospel Lk 21:34-36

Our day to day lives sometimes drown out or obscure the time we need to communicate and contemplate God. These distractions have a tendency to pile up, until we become totally tuned out to God’s message. I pray that today, I may keep the channel that is tuned to God open and that His love may be reflected in my actions and deeds.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 29 NOVEMBER 2012

Gospel Lk 21:20-28

Those who have rejected Jesus will pay a price. There really is no shorthand for doing so. How do we internalize this … do we reject Jesus knowingly, or do we just sometimes misunderstand Him? This passage speaks directly to the times we reject Him knowingly and those that do so. There are consequences, although we try and avoid describing a “fire and brimstone” vengeful God. Just as in the Old Testament the prophecy of Destruction is followed by Restoration for those that follow him.
Jesus then describes the path of redemption and love, through His mission, and invites us to join him in safety and comfort for all times.

THE DAILY GOSPEL AND READINGS 27 NOVEMBER 2012

Gospel Lk 21:5-11

Jesus warns us of following false prophets, those who have already rejected Him and His mission on earth, (the High priests who will condemn him) and those that will reject the disciples when they proclaim His death and resurrection in their near futures. (The martyrdom of the apostles).

While this passage also predicts of end times, if we look towards Him and pray for God’s glory and mercy, we have nothing to fear. The time will come when God determines, and all we can do is to be ready at all times.
