Reflection on the Daily Gospel Readings 3 May 2011

“I am the way and the truth and the life.”

There is no clearer message from God as to who to follow. My daughter said to me after seeing our family come through a particularly difficult time recently.

The truth will set you free.

We all want to be free don’t we?

The stone the builders rejected, is the cornerstone of our lives.

Despite all the miracles, the good works, the inspired instruction for changing our lives, God still gets rejected. We even are scared when a miracle happens and we don’t know how to handle it. He founded his Church around this cornerstone of his mission and works. Our job is to proclaim it.

God appears amongst us, yet we are astonished.

God shows himself to us, in person in the most amazing ways in our lives. Yet our limited faith is proof positive because we are surprised he is there! We should be joyous at his appearances at the center table, but not surprised. Remember he immediately offered salvation to those you had crucified him with the establishment of the Church mission through the disciples.
