Openings … Thoughts … Words

A word once uttered is hard to take back,

because others have already swallowed it,

whether it tastes good or not,

whether it hurts feelings,

whether it causes joy or increases love.

So today, speak after your thoughts have been purified by God.

“What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light;
what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.”

Gospel of Matthew

Openings … The Gift Horse

“Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth”

My mother used to say,

But I think that she did. Carefully examining the motive

of all horses.

So they might not carry her away to some town and destroy her life.

“Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves;
so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.”

Gospel of Matthew

Openings … Sorrow

The word can make you lament for past acts or words.

those which hurt others for no good reason,

is there ever a good reason?

Let me feel sorrow for those I have wronged.

And enjoy forgiveness received and yet to come.

“As you enter a house, wish it peace.”

Gospel of Matthew
