Our Lord’s Prayer is a gift from God Himself. Let us meditate on it today, phrase by phrase and see how it plays out in our lives.
Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Thus says the LORD:
Just as from the heavens
the rain and snow come down
And do not return there
till they have watered the earth,
making it fertile and fruitful,
Giving seed to the one who sows
and bread to the one who eats,
So shall my word be
that goes forth from my mouth;
It shall not return to me void,
but shall do my will,
achieving the end for which I sent it.

Glorify the LORD with me,
let us together extol his name.
I sought the LORD, and he answered me

and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This is how you are to pray:

It is hard to not to reflect on the massacre of the innocents without thinking of those children and their protective teachers in Newtown CT. The mourning of a lost child is something to have experience of to truly understand. How can we outlive our children? We lost our first-born son shortly after he was born, and it was too much to endure.
The human emotions of loss, grief, misunderstanding, even anger all come rushing back after 30 years.
Jesus was saved from this massacre only to give Himself as the sacrificial lamb for all mankind. We can rest in peace in the knowledge that all children called are innocents that will be by His side forever, looking down and looking after us till we see them again in heaven.
