Despite many miracles before this one, the disciples are once again afraid of what they are seeing when Jesus showing His supernatural power. As in the Old Testament, when the chosen are saved by the parting of the Red Sea in Exodus, then as here, His dominion over the natural world is again displayed. Jesus tells them “not to be afraid”, this message stands the test of time. We have nothing to fear when He is by our side.
Jesus is alive and in us all.
Let me not doubt like Thomas.
But rather rejoice in the wonder of his presence.
The appearance of Jesus after His resurrection marks the transformation of the faith of the disciples. Here the turning point for the foundation of Christianity was made, the belief of new life, life after death, providing meaning and direction to our lives here on earth. Imagine what it might have been like to be and observer of this event. Meditate on this for a moment or two day.
