REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 11 DECEMBER 2012

Gospel Mt 18:12-14

Jesus always seems to step out to find the one who has gone astray. Lost their way. Perhaps it started as an adventure, but now they are separated from the flock. He deliberately leaves the rest who stay together waiting for Him and steps out to find the one missing.

Can we say the same ourselves? Do we react positively to the one who is obviously “outside the flock”? Unfortunately it’s not always the case.

Today I will renew my efforts to be attentive to those outside who need some gentleness and kindness shown to them.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 10 DECEMBER 2012

Gospel Lk 5:17-26

For those witnessing these miracles, there must have been a tremendous change of heart. Particularly those who were skeptical of Jesus and His teaching. The miracle of the curing of the paralytic was indeed wondrous, however, the real meaning here is the authority of God. All present knew that only God could make such a thing possible, so their awe was for knowing that God had made this happen. He was amongst them. He is amongst us.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 6 DECEMBER 2012

Gospel Mt 7:21, 24-27

If we look at the foundations of our lives, are they built on rock or sand? Jesus makes it clear that just listening to His words is not adequate, but rather action is required. We have to live and breathe Him deeply, just like taking in a deep gulp of air for our body; our soul needs the same nurturing.

Let us be like the wise man and build on His Word and then Act on His Word this and every sacred day we have ahead of us.
