REFLECTION ON JESUS HEALING THE MAN WITH THE WITHERED HAND 23 JANUARY 2013

MAN WITH WITHERED HAND

Jesus shows us that sometimes our good deeds will result in our persecution. Those that judge (in this case the Pharisees), will ultimately be judged themselves. So we have to try and live out our Christian life as much as possible, and rely God to respond to us generously to our faith. By showing his power on the Sabbath, Jesus added to the list of reasons why the Pharisees wanted to “get rid of him”.
He clearly differentiated, through this miracle, who He was and his ability to heal and forgive sin.

Gospel Lk 5:17-26

For those witnessing these miracles, there must have been a tremendous change of heart. Particularly those who were skeptical of Jesus and His teaching. The miracle of the curing of the paralytic was indeed wondrous, however, the real meaning here is the authority of God. All present knew that only God could make such a thing possible, so their awe was for knowing that God had made this happen. He was amongst them. He is amongst us.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 5 DECEMBER 2012

Gospel Mt 15:29-37

It is amazing to see the miracles that seem to occur around us in our lives. Just our creation itself is a miracle, our children, our friends, the blessings of a job to support ourselves, the opportunity to help others.

We don’t need to win the lottery to be happy, or to witness the healings of Jesus’s mission. His love is enough. Let us look around our lives today and see what we should be grateful for, and the blessings we have here today.
