Openings … Sin is OK?

Moving to safety and closer to God,

sometimes resisted, at times forgot,

the theology of the devil makes me seek … only pleasure.

And then he changes sin … and makes it legal.

So my day is filled with self-pleasure and the absence of God.

“With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,
for his mercy endures forever.”

Psalm 23

Openings … Insurance policy

Imagine an insurance policy that provides a long term guarantee of eternal happiness just be signing up?

Requirements are not simple; to love others and have faith in Him.

Easy words, but with deep meanings.

Like the words, forever, eternity and joy.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Gospel of Mark

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL AND READINGS 25 JUNE 2013

Damascus gate

The narrow gate is the entrance to the city walls of ancient walled cities. It is narrow to keep out undesirables and also to be able to decide who should enter based on their suitability. In these times someone coming in who was ill might spread disease to the population, if they seems like a thief they would not be granted entry.

The wide open path is open to anyone in life, as as a secular society continues to redefine right and wrong, it is easier to “saunter” through life making choices that are socially acceptable, but separate us from God.

Let us pray today to be drawn towards that narrow gate that brings us closer to Him, and from the wisdom to recognize it.
