REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 12 JANUARY 2013

John-the-Baptist

I have had the privilege to be the “best man” on a couple of occasions. The metaphor John uses in the scripture today is a really beautiful one.

We stand before God in awe of his work around us every day, and have been chosen to introduce Him to others. In John’s case it was preaching and baptism, bringing others into communion with Him for their entire lives. Let us try and renew that commitment today during each hour of the day, rejoicing in his love and blessings.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 9 MAY 2012

Let us take root in Jesus’s vine and become co-workers in his vineyard. This world of ours. May every action be of his desire and love, and may we avoid those occasions and temptations that may cause us not to do his will.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL 9 MARCH 2012

While this Gospel reading really tells me the consequences of rejecting God over the period of my life, it also tells me something else. Every small rejection while I pretend to look like I am doing his work, or say I am doing his work also hurts him, and hurts our soul. We need to be open in accepting his Word as our salvation, but also cautious in rejecting it like the Pharisees. They are set up as the hypocrites that we should not follow, but we can also be that way some of the time. I pray I try and avoid these occasions and remind myself of the prize of His love.
