“This has been the most wonderful holiday”

the happy man of many years, exclaimed from the bed.

Squeezing the out words carefully, like a favorite toothpaste providing first morning freshness,

so there was no misunderstanding in his intention.

 

Everyone here is so kind, so loving, and even though he did not say it.

They are here for him.

Each act is appreciated, the smiles accompanying a bed refresh,

The help walking to the toilet,

Words of encouragement, laden with food,

And another Lucozade.

 

For this, all this, my father is more grateful than for any other vacation in his life.

Even though the bacteria, which has befuddled his brain,

Also came through these kind walls.
