Openings … Haven

Haven’t seen much of you lately in my life,

Seems like you have taken the summer off,

And let all these others disturb my peace.

Or has not noticing become my issue.

And you are there, forever, just waiting.

Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples,
“I have seen the Lord,”

Openings … My Air-Conditioned Room

Sitting here comfortably, in my air-conditioned room,

I don’t hear the silent screams of aborted children,

or the quiet passing of a child in Africa

or prayers of regret from prisoners everywhere.

But rather the blessings of my own life, safe and protected from such misery.

He who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord.

Psalm 15

Openings … Sin is OK?

Moving to safety and closer to God,

sometimes resisted, at times forgot,

the theology of the devil makes me seek … only pleasure.

And then he changes sin … and makes it legal.

So my day is filled with self-pleasure and the absence of God.

“With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,
for his mercy endures forever.”

Psalm 23
