REFLECTION ON THE GIVINGS OF THE KEYS OF THE CHURCH TO ST. PETER: GOSPEL 22 FEBRUARY 2013
The authority and trust of the Catholic Church was given to St. Peter on this feast day. His recognition of Christ as the Son of God and the promise made by Jesus to him are as profound today as they were over 2000 years ago. The Church has prevailed and His work will continue.

We should approach God in prayer with both boldness and confidence. God is our father who cares for us, if we go to Him with a prayer of petition He will hear us. In the Gospel today we are reminded that we also should treat others, as we expect to be treated by them. We should not live a dual life, saying and praying one thing and then not meeting God’s requirement in our treatment of others.
