REFLECTION ON THE FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI includes 3-line reflection

The Feast of Corpus Christi shows so much more than a reminder of His sacrifice for the benefit of our salvation. While this is obviously the critical aspect of His mission on earth, there is so much more here for us to contemplate and enrich our lives.

He takes the cup of redemption, through His sacrifice and in doing so provides us with an unlimited supply of grace for our own salvation. This is an invitational process that He makes clear in the Gospel today, when His followers are hungry and tired, He will let them rest and refresh them with their physical needs, through miraculous means if necessary. We can rely on Him.

However, now, the cup He offers us is one of Peace and Love, full to the brim with His love for us to celebrate any time we partake in the Eucharist, or just bask in His presence with the knowledge and wisdom of His being. Let us partake of his chalice willingly and as often as we can. It will enrich us in ways we cannot imagine and provides graces for our own eternal salvation.

Three line reflection

Take the Chalice of Peace and Love

Sip and savor each taste, moment and grace.

Fulfilling every imaginable desire with God’s presence.

REFLECTION ON THE READINGS 1 JUNE 2013

The search for wisdom can be a long one. We often feel that wisdom comes from either the very young who have not yet had their thoughts “polluted” by the ways of the world, or those older because they have endured some of the world and continued their faith journey until they discovered how to communicate with God along the way.

While we can seek wisdom, the knowledge of God, by praying to Him in the traditional form, and, if earnest, are rewarded with this grace. However, we often receive these graces as infused graces that are not “felt”, which means we have to rely on our personal faith to keep on this path.

To obtain true wisdom, we have to continue on a path of humility and being docile to the reception of the Holy Spirit. This means we have to be truly in a position of openness to His love and then we will receive in ways we could not imagine. Finding your interior prayer life is the key to this kingdom.

Today, take a few moments to reflect on how God is moving in your life. Find a quiet favorite space to talk to Him, in your own words, and begin a new dialog with Him.

REFLECTION ON THE DAILY GOSPEL AND READINGS 16 JUNE 2012

Discernment and obedience often are conflicting journeys. The call to obedience should dominate my life, even if I have not fully discerned why I am being taken on this journey.

Mary and Elijah followed his call, regardless of the cost to them personally. The riches and graces received were far outweighed by any worldly tribulations they had to endure. They tell us, in different ways, how we have to endure troubles as parents, as leaders and as disciples of his cause.

Unfortunately our culture wants answers on everything immediately. We don’t want to follow the “narrow gate” when called, and rely heavily on our own skills and reasoning to deal with all the problems of our worlds. Psychology and man’s capacities to self-medicate himself dominate. We question when we are being asked to do something for “spiritual purposes” as if it’s some form of hocus-pocus. Intolerance of religious freedom overlooks a secular landscape.

Without a spiritual sense, man relying on himself is alone. Alone we are scared, defensive, aggressive, self-centered, confused and dismayed. Those who are in conversation with God, inviting him in their lives have an easier time. They have a friend they can rely on.

Bringing the learning of following His ways to others is not just important as a disciple of Christ, but also for ourselves. Each time someone else is positively affected by the light of God in their lives, our own bulbs are recharged, giving us more grace to share with others.
